Helping 13,000 families build household toilets and promoting safe water, sanitation and hygiene practices.

RDO partnered with WaterAid UK to improve household sanitation and hygiene awareness in the Nilgiris. The programme supported families to construct toilets and used community campaigns, wall paintings, local media and public events such as World Water Day and World Toilet Day to promote safe sanitation, personal hygiene and prevention of waterborne disease.

Key Outcomes

13,000 families assisted to build household toilets, giving approximately 65,000 people access to improved sanitation.
