About RDO Trust

RDO Trust has been working continuously in the Nilgiris and across rural India since 1980. That continuity is important. We are not a project-based NGO that enters and exits communities. We stay, build trust, and work through long-term systems.

Our approach is community-owned development. Whether it is sanitation, livelihoods, or agriculture, we focus on end-to-end systems — infrastructure, training, market linkages, and scale — rather than isolated interventions.
We have a direct presence in more than 300 villages, working closely with tribal, Dalit, and landless communities. This gives us a deep understanding of local realities and allows us to deliver at scale with accountability.

Over the years, this approach has earned trust from both government and international donors. Our work has been supported by organisations such as USAID, JICA, European partners, corporates, and Indian ministries, and our models have been presented at NITI Aayog and adopted by multiple state governments.

In terms of outcomes, we have mobilised over 100,000 women into self-help groups, facilitated more than ₹220 crore in rural micro-credit, rehabilitated landless labourers into productive farmers, and enabled tribal ownership of assets now valued at over ₹250 crore.

Our Mission

RDO Trust is committed to sustainable development in rural India. Our mission is to empower communities, particularly tribal, Dalit, and landless groups, to achieve self-sufficiency and prosperity. We focus on creating long-term impact through integrated initiatives in areas such as women's empowerment, micro-credit, agricultural development, and community infrastructure. Our work is driven by the core values of accountability, inclusivity, and sustainability, and we strive to be a trusted partner for both local and international stakeholders in the pursuit of rural development.
