Recycling grey water and faecal sludge to support vegetable cultivation, soil health and climate resilience in water stressed farming areas.
RDO’s Securing Water for Food project introduced practical innovations to help Nilgiris vegetable farmers respond to dry spells, erratic rainfall and declining soil fertility. The project promoted recycling of grey water for irrigation and conversion of faecal sludge and biodegradable waste into co compost. It also supported farmer producer organisations and social enterprise models, linking sanitation, agriculture, climate resilience and rural incomes.
