Providing schooling, meals and language support for migrant children living in tea plantation areas of the Nilgiris.
RDO responded to the education needs of children of migrant plantation workers from West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Nepal. With support from Vedanta, RDO established 31 learning centres, provided meals, uniforms and textbooks, and introduced Hindi language support. RDO also advocated with the district administration to secure admission for these children into government schools, ensuring long term access to statutory education benefits.
